Last night was all about a quiet campsite and lighting a fire to cook on. E decided that it was time to eat simply so we broke out the piece of trout that we’d picked up in Austin, at the Wholefoods market they have there.

It’s like an institution in Texas, only meatier. Barbecue is talked about with the kind of reverence given to ex-Presidents and football (American football, y’all…) but to be honest, our experience with it has been a little so-what, so far.

Found this little gem in Eureka Springs. Jim (in the photo) knew ALL about flat whites so he made me one!. If you’re in this neck of the woods sometime soon (shotgun weddings, retiring, you know the score) then look it up.

Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s legendary architect, was commissioned in 1902 to renovate and construct a show-piece house by the Thomas family. We had the chance to stop off there yesterday, in Springfield and I’m glad we did.
